Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic antique Baltic egg-yolk amber graduated bead necklace, circa 1900–1920. It features a rich, opaque butterscotch color and weighs exactly 10 grams. The 13.5” strand retains its original hand-knotted silk thread and a flush, period-correct brass spring ring clasp. The beads are all in wonderful antique condition, with the exception of the very small bead directly adjacent to the clasp, which shows a natural, crescent-shaped conchoidal fracture (pictured close up). This fracture acts as definitive visual evidence of its fossil resin authenticity. My grandmother received this necklace from her father when she was 4 or 5 years old around 1915.
